Special Interest Groups (SIG) Updates February 2024

We are proud to inform you about the most important activities of IATUL's Special Interest Groups (SIG). IATUL invites librarians at member institutions to participate in the SIGs.

Information Literacy (SIG IL) Update

Kristine Stewart, Associate Professor and Information Literacy Coordinator at Zayed University, will take up the position of Community of Practice Lead and establish the Community of Practice later in the year.

The IATUL Podcasting Project is on track, and the research visit for Vicky Grant to the American University of Sharjah has been organised from 26th Feb 2024 to 1st March 2024. Alanna Ross will be the host at AUS.

Organising the next Information Literacy Webinar and refreshing the Information and Digital Literacy Frameworks are planned for this year.

Projects: Liberating Information Literacy Project

Open Educational Resource established in draft. Submission form established, and peer review rubric established. Call for submissions to be made over the coming months.

Upcoming meetings:

Meetings of the Special Interest Group, the Liberating Information Literacy OER Project Group and the IATUL Information Literacy Global Community of Practice are scheduled in February 2024.

Research Data Management (SIG Data) Update

IATUL’s special interest group on research data management (SIG-Data) is currently exploring how to contribute to the IATUL strategic action plan.

SIG-Data is eager to welcome new members from IATUL member libraries, particularly from individuals with a role or longstanding interest in research data management who are interested in contributing to data-related librarianship at an international level.

Please contact Cameron Riopelle if you would like to become involved with SIG-Data activities: criopelle@miami.edu.
